— Kaunas

Why Kaunas needs custom glass doors

Kaunas door market reality: standard apartment door sizes vary widely between Soviet-era blocks (Šilainiai, Eiguliai) and post-2000 construction. Heritage Žaliakalnis homes have especially non-standard door openings (often 75×195cm vs modern 80×210cm). Custom-fit glass doors solve this — no gap fillers, no compromise on aesthetics. We measure on-site and manufacture exact dimensions for any Kaunas opening.

Kaunas glass door applications

Most common Kaunas requests: bedroom doors in renovated apartments (~30% — Žaliakalnis, Šilainiai); home office doors (~25% — remote work boom); kitchen-living separations (~20% — open plan with smell containment); walk-in closet entries (~15% — premium homes); office doors at Kauno Hub IT center (~10%). Heritage projects (Old Town wooden home renovations) require black-frame or brass hardware to match original aesthetic.

— FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between swing, sliding, and pivot for Kaunas apartments?

Swing (classic hinged) — needs 80cm clearance, traditional. Sliding (overhead track) — saves floor space, ideal for narrow Kaunas apartment hallways (especially older Šilainiai blocks). Pivot — premium aesthetic, opens both directions. For Kaunas: swing for cabinets, sliding for narrow areas, pivot only for entrance hall (premium budget). Older Žaliakalnis homes often have non-standard openings — sliding adapts most easily.

Can you match restored Žaliakalnis aesthetic with brass hardware?

Yes — frequently requested. We offer champagne brass hardware (Hettich, MWE collections) that complements restored 1920s-30s wooden home fixtures. Black-frame industrial style also popular for Kaunas heritage projects — visual contrast highlights original wood. We bring physical hardware samples to measurement appointment for in-context evaluation.

How long do glass door mechanisms last?

Premium German hardware (Hettich, MWE, Dorma) — 100,000+ certified open cycles, ~25 years residential. Mid-tier (CCE, JNF) — 50,000 cycles, 10-15 years. Soft-close prevents wear from slamming. We provide 5-year warranty. Wheel/runner replacement after 10-15 years — standard service call to Kaunas.

Can I install pocket-style sliding doors in existing Kaunas apartment?

Pocket doors require pre-construction wall preparation (10cm cavity). Retrofit possible only during major renovation when walls are open. For existing apartments without renovation plans, choose overhead-mount sliding (track visible above doorway) — works in 90% of cases without construction work.

Do you serve Kauno rajonas (Garliava, Karmėlava)?

Yes — Kauno rajonas (Garliava, Domeikava, Akademija, Karmėlava, Raudondvaris, Šlienava) all serviced under standard Kaunas conditions. Same delivery and installation timeline.
