Outdoor glass balustrades have become the preferred railing solution for modern terraces and balconies across Lithuania. They allow unobstructed views while complying with safety regulations.
Why Glass for Outdoor Balustrades?
Glass balustrades offer: unobstructed views (critical for elevated terraces and sea-view locations), weather resistance (frost, UV, salt air), low maintenance (no rust, no painting needed), and safety (VSG holds together when broken).
Glass Specification
Toughened glass: shatters into small blunt fragments and the whole pane drops out, leaving an open gap — fine for partitions and shower screens, not for balustrades. VSG laminated glass: remains in place when broken, held by PVB interlayer. This is the only glass we use wherever there is a drop. VSG 33.1 (2x8mm): minimum for outdoor terraces. VSG 44.2 (2x10mm): heights over 3m or public access.
Fixing Systems
Post-fixed: glass between stainless steel or aluminium posts. Most flexible layout. Channel base fixing: glass in continuous U-profile. Most wind-resistant for exposed terraces. Point-fixed standoffs: maximum transparency, minimum 12mm VSG.

Climate Considerations
For Klaipeda and Palanga coastal properties: use stainless steel A4 grade fittings to resist salt air. For standard Lithuanian winters (-25C): VSG glass is not affected. Sealants should be checked every 5-7 years.
