Glass Balustrade Systems and Prices

Glass balustrades in Lithuania come in three main systems:

Point-fixed (spider clamp) system. Discrete metal clamps drilled through the glass. Visible from the side, but minimal visual presence. Standard for interior staircase balustrades in private homes and offices.

Floor channel (U-channel) system. Glass slots into a floor-mounted U-channel, completely invisible fixings from the side. Premium look, slightly more expensive due to floor preparation. Requires solid, flat substrate.

Post-and-panel system. Glass panels held between vertical posts. More installation flexibility (posts can be offset). Slightly more visible hardware than the other two systems.

VSG laminated glass: we use it for every balustrade where there is a drop, indoors and outdoors. A broken toughened pane crumbles and leaves an open gap, while laminated glass stays in one piece because the interlayer holds it.

What Drives the Price

Glass thickness (8 mm vs 10 mm vs 12 mm): +10-15% per step up. Glass height (900 mm vs 1200 mm vs 1500 mm): taller panels require larger glass sheets, +15-25%. Curved balustrades: custom-bent glass, significantly more expensive. Length: shorter runs have higher per-metre cost due to minimum order logistics.
